iterate through html table rows with jquery to get div id inside cells

This forum was posted on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 3:22:02 PM

i require to iterate thru every cell in every row in a table id="myTable" and get the ids of the cells' child divs.
So far I hv something like:

$("td.theCell").every(function() {
var id = $(this).attr('id'); //this would give me the td id but i need it is child div's id
});

my html is like:

foo
bar
foo

foo

foo
bar

Does somebody know a best approach to do this? Thank You in advance.

The user actually writes in a textarea which javascript/jquery copies to the hidden text input before submitting. I hv seen solutions where javascript replaces /n etc. with little known break-character. Is this the only approach to go? Then I hv to translate it back again serverside.

The problem is that although the jQuery selectors appear to work best for regular DOM(Document Object Model)(Document Object Model) elements Whenever I try to do a $('.listItem').click() event the selector does not actually work. I think it is becoz .listItem are elements made from the WinJS library at run-time and for little reason the jQuery does not recognize them.anyone know what I am doing wrong?ThanksMatt
